Analytical conditions:
BenchTOF-dx TOF MS, Agilent 7890 GC & Zoex GCxGC modulator
- Column set: BPX5 & BPX50
- BenchTOF-dx data converted to .cdf & displayed in GC image display software
|
Observations:
- GCxGC customarily utilises flame ionisation detection (FID).
- Quadrupole MS instruments are unable to scan the wide mass range required for the sharp peaks generated by GCxGC
- BenchTOF-dx TOF MS is able to measure fast enough (in the range 10 - 800 amu) allowing coupling with GCxGC; peaks typically <80 ms wide can be identified
- Using the easily installable GCxGC modulator, volatile compounds (C3) through to semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC) may be trapped & analysed
