About ALMSCO International
ALMSCO International was formed in 2008 to manufacture and develop a time-of-flight mass spectrometer for GC. We had realised that existing TOF mass spectrometers didn’t make the most of the inherent advantages of TOF for GC, so set about designing an instrument from first principles that incorporated the latest developments in the field. The result was our BenchTOF-dx, which is now being used by laboratories around the world with great success for all sorts of applications.
We also design software for GC/MS systems – ClearView and TargetView – that make the most of the high-density datasets produced by modern mass spectrometers.
ALMSCO is a division of Markes International, which has for 15 years been the world-leading specialist manufacturer of equipment and consumables for analytical thermal desorption (TD). We share our headquarters in Llantrisant, a few miles outside Cardiff, UK. In 2012 we set up a laboratory and technical resource centre in Cincinnati, Ohio, to cater for the growing market for TOF and TD products in the USA.

Schauenburg International Group acquired a majority of the shareholding in Markes International (including ALMSCO International) in January 2013 to enhance the next stage of the company’s growth and help assure the long-term future of Markes as an independent company. At the same time, it strengthens Schauenburg’s position in the air monitoring field and strategically positions the group to take advantage of a high-growth sector of the analytical instrument business.
The Schauenburg International Group is a family-owned technology business with more than 30 sites worldwide. The focal points of the business are in electronic technologies, machinery and equipment, plastics processing, and engineering products.
